THE PROJECT

Itarus is a semi-submersible floating platform built by Fincantieri for the Russian company RosRAO, the Federal State Unitary Enterprise for radioactive waste management.
The unit was constructed at the integrated shipyard of Riva Trigoso-Muggiano, with the support of the Palermo shipyard. It will transport reactor compartments of decommissioned nuclear submarines from the storage area in Sayda Bay to the Nerpa shipyard (and vice versa), located near the Kola Peninsula in the Barents Sea, for the Russian Navy.
